Why is it so easy for Americans to talk about bombing countries and killing people?

Not very long ago there was a boy who watched a lot of movies and played a lot of video games. He sometimes posed as the infallible special operations expert and sometimes as the pilot of an F-16. In all roles he was very successful. He hit what he aimed and usually won the games.

He also watched many new and old Hollywood movies and watched classics like Rambo and being interested in world affairs he asked his father why the Moslem guys were allies with Rambo. Rambo III (1988) They looked very much like the Taliban. His father had a hard time explaining but being the kind of man who prefers to use ten words for a two word explanation he managed or so he thought.

The boy grew a little and now he was totally confident that he was an expert an matters of militaristic nature. That’s when his father took him to the gun range.

The AK-47 AK-47 - Wikipedia has a muzzle energy of almost 1500 ft-lbs and has quite a kick. The boy holds the AK, poses for the photos, gets the instructions with “I know this weapon inside out, what are you telling me” airs and starts shooting.

After 20–25 shots he says it was nice thank you and being the proud boy he is, he keeps his pain on the shoulder and the wrists to himself and many many days later confesses that he still aches and it was nothing like he experienced on the computer screen, because this had actually happened.

The smell, sound, force, and the adrenalin in your blood make shooting a totally different experience from the video game.

Most everybody, not only Americans think it is easy to bomb places and shoot people these days because Hollywood and Silicon Valley tells us so. But as Sir Isaac Newton Isaac Newton - Wikipedia beautifully explained in his third law that it is not.
